When a Sam Loves a Woman

My husband’s recreational soccer team, The Raccoons, are a tight-knit group of friends that have committed to playing soccer each week and of course, the rounds of beers that must follow at their favorite bar. We’ve reached a tide of weddings within this group and bachelor parties are coming up left and right!

To take the latest bachelor’s celebration beyond the routine hang out for the team, I pitched in some party favors that would highlight the reason for the celebration and add a playful way to frame the activities of the weekend in a small cabin in a quaint Long Island town.

I can never resist a good pun and sappy love songs of old get me every time, so it was natural to build the weekend’s campaign around Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman”, simply swapping in “Sam” (the groom) for “Man”.

The favors included wearable small trophy pins, matchbooks and s’mores kits for a late night campfire as well as flashlights and earplugs to ensure everyone could get some good sleep after a long day of brewery hopping.

The favors elevated their time together and brought special recognition to the groom!
