Millinery Medicine Cabinet

A Pillbox Hat, Just What the Party Ordered

Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of our dear friends Lynda and Sam! As it was an English wedding, “hats and fascinators [were] encouraged.” There was some debate among the male attendees if that applied to them as well, but alas, it did not. So, as the soul ambassador of festivity, I took this occasion to add another pill box to my medicine cabinet of millinery, and to of course appease the very lovely bride.

As I left this final detail to the last minute, I admittedly cheated with a muslin hat form from M&J Trim and “phoned a friend”, my girl, the glue gun.  As this hat was just a costume novelty for moi, I hope you’ll let it slide and keep my secret! If it’s any consolation, I did secure the appliqué flowers with needle and thread as well as the beaded tassels on top.

As I glued with caution, I indulged in a retrospect of my past hat creations and have compiled a few here for your hopeful enjoyment and inspiration.

Having thrown many a party just to wear a particular garment, it’s a pleasure to simply have to make the piece and show up! Hats off to Lynda for carrying on this tradition and to the other pretty lady guests that made photo-ops so easy!
