A Valentine’s Day Getaway

In NYC, Valentine’s Day elicits a lot of different…feelings: dinner reservation competitiveness, postponed breakups, travels to personal pits of despair (I once emerged from the subway to find an adult woman crying into her ice cream as she made her way to the turnstile), and of course the other people who are simply crazy in love. But something all New Yorkers will agree on, on this day is that the weather will be horrible. Which is why on this particular February 14th (having finally found love) I decided to heat things up for everyone! And thus a resort themed “Barty” (bar + party) was born.

Guests received amenity packages branded to our theme of “Resort, A Valentine’s Getaway”. All were encouraged to wear their best resort wear (granted it was 12 degrees outside) and we managed to create our own private getaway in the throws of the West Village.  As the host, I aspired to transport myself to a time and swimming pool far far away, by creating this vintage swimming cap inspired party hat. The frame was sewn of ribbon which lent itself to easy draping on my own head—pinned with caution) and silk flowers attached for full coverage and foliage.

Do you have a costume party or event that requires a little something special? Is the size of your small apartment disproportionate to your desire to throw a grand party? Message me here to start a conversation on how Futur Parfait might enhance a simple (or intricate) “Barty” of your own!
